Abstract

Judgment of the Constitutional Court, 56/2022, resolves an appeal for constitutional rights protection with criteria that call into question the power of the autonomous parliaments to appoint senators, in favour of the power of the parliamentary groups to propose candidates for this appointment. The decision represents a further step in the deconstruction of traditional political representation and the definition of a new one articulated almost exclusively by political parties and parliamentary groups.
