Medio Siglo De Derecho Parlamentario Español (A propósito del libro Compendio de Derecho Parlamentario)

Abstract

The commemoration this year of the fiftieth anniversary of the Law for Political Reform opens an extraordinary cycle of anniversaries for Spanish Constitutional Law. Among others, we will celebrate half a century of the new Parliamentary Law developed in Spain since those days of the Transition, following the new configuration of the Cortes Generales and the establishment of the seventeen Autonomous Parliaments. During this period, this branch of the legal system has undergone extraordinary development, finally taking root and becoming consolidated with a continuity and a level unprecedented in our history. The publication of the Compendium of Parliamentary Law, the latest contribution of the Spanish Association of Parliamentary Clerks to the rich body of doctrine shaped over these fifty years, provides an excellent opportunity to examine the significance of this process in contrast with the modest and discontinuous history that preceded it, the causes and characteristics of this fortunate evolution, and the constituent elements of our current Parliamentary Law.
